Problem
Looking up an unfamiliar word means leaving what you're reading, and words you look up once are usually forgotten by the next week.
Approach
Stay out of the way until called: one shortcut on highlighted text opens a definition that fits the sentence it came from, and every lookup feeds a spaced-repetition review.
Implementation
An Electron tray app with a global shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+D) that captures the highlighted text in any application, backed by a local FastAPI service. Lookups are lemmatised, matched to the surrounding sentence for a contextual definition, saved to a personal word list, and scheduled for review with the SM-2 algorithm.
